It should be common knowledge by now, in the technological world at least, that both Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality are being seen more and more in Social Media. I read an article about augmented and virtual reality that talks about how in 2030, it is predicted that Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality will continue to develop and evolve and become embedded through Social Media. There are many social media avenues today like Facebook that will continue to see in 2030 that will use augmented reality and virtual reality embellishments.

To Augment something is, by definition from the Merriam-Webster Dictionary is ": to make greater, more numerous, larger, or more intense, : to become augmented." (Augment, n.d.). Augmented Reality is, by definition from the Merriam-Webster Dictionary is ": an enhanced version of reality created by the use of technology to overlay digital information on an image of something being viewed through a device (such as a smart phone camera); also: the technology used to create augmented reality." (Augmented reality, n.d.). An example of Augmented Reality in the past is that the vibration of a joystick that operates a video game as a level of reality because of the sense of touch it amplifies. Today, video games like Call of Duty can be played through social media, if the person you are versing shoots you for example, you would feel the vibration to simulate being shot. The joystick operates the game with or without the vibration, but technology advancement has embellished and elevated the game playing world experiences. Augmented Reality is also described as "a kind of ...
Virtual Reality, as defined by Merriam-Webster dictionary is ": an artificial environment which is experienced through sensory stimuli (such as sights and sounds) provided by a computer and in which one's actions partially determine what happens in the environment;also: the technology used to create or access virtual reality." (Virtual reality, n.d.).
An example of Virtual Reality in Social Media in 2030 is in this article I read by digital journal, that talks about the prediction that the internet could be viewed by the image being viewed 3 dimensionally, as opposed to now on a laptop or a hand held device. It also says how this technological advancement could potentially blur the digital and real life worlds. Internet experience through Social Media will be expressed not only by content but the forms it is encountered in." (Walker, 2017, para. 7).
An example I thought of is one from one of the Star Wars movies, R2D2 projects an image of Princess Leia relaying a message. It is a recording. Based on what I have read and interpreted is that projected images will be live and interactive in 2030.
